to save the garden
I prune the honeysuckle;
I prune the honeysuckle;
mourning the lost scent
-Andromeda Jazmon
I am struggling lately with some very difficult and painful times in my family. Somehow this picture speaks to the deep sadness and loss. Poetry and photography is a comfort.
Today's Friday Poetry round up is with Marjorie at Paper Tigers.

This is lovely, Andi. When ever cutting back flowers, I do think of what I'm losing. You've said it just perfectly. I'm sorry to hear of your sad time.
In the garden as in life, we are pruned and grafted and at times, the process seems only to bring pain...
But, even as the seasons pass, death seems inevitable and that nothing will come again -- blooming will happen again. Hold on, lovey.
Sending you warmest thoughts and prayers, Andi. Thanks for sharing your beautiful writing and touching photograph.
Loss and mourning, bare stems and bleak fence...but my hope for you is that as time passes, new growth will appear, sharp angles will soften. Sending fragrant thoughts your way.
I'm sorry to hear that these are tough times - I'm sending lots of thoughts and prayers. You have found an essence in this almost acerbic poem and the photograph captures it perfectly, with the wire alongside the pruned honeysuckle. I hope it won't be too long before you can smell the perfume again.
Mourn the loss but be thankful there was the scent to remember. Hold that memory. There will be more fragrances to delight in in a bit.
Thank you so much dears! I am hanging on by faith and waiting for regrowth...
Andi, during a similar time in my life I found Laurie Lee's garden-related poem titled APPLES and it comforted me - maybe it will comfort you, too: "I, with as easy hunger, take / entire my season's dole; / welcome the ripe, the sweet, the sour,/ the hollow and the whole". Here's the link:

I hope some welcomed fresh buds come your way soon and a transition to a happier chapter. Thinking of you.
I've come late but see a bouquet of friendship has already been sent your way. Let me add my hugs and support to you and yours during this hard time. You are the fragrance for so many.
I agree that poetry and photography are comforts. I hope you will find comfort in many things. Thanks for sharing this.
Our power was out so I am finally making it around. I'm sorry this is a hard time, Andi. You capture it so well in just a few words.
You speak about coping with your difficult times with such grace and wisdom - and lovely poetry, too. Like Mary Lee, I send fragrant thoughts your way.
I'm sorry about the pain, Andi. The haiku is really lovely and poignant.
I'm sorry to hear how closely the photo is tied to your life right now. Sending hugs your way as well as reminding you - and noting myself - of the hope in your poem is reflected in life itself.
